Pre-season fixture at Murrayfield
Newcastle United are set to face Everton in a pre-season friendly this week at Scottish Gas Murrayfield in Edinburgh. The match is scheduled for Wednesday, 12th August 2026, with a kick-off time of 5:15 PM. This fixture marks a significant pre-season event for both Premier League clubs as they prepare for the upcoming 2026/27 season.
Turnstiles for the match will open at 3:45 PM, and the West Stand Fan Village will be accessible from 3:15 PM. Supporters attending the game are advised to allow extra time for travel, particularly if using the tram, as the Murrayfield Stadium tram stop can become busy on event days.

Scottish Gas Murrayfield has previously hosted other high-profile football matches, including Manchester United against Olympique Lyonnais in 2023 and Rangers in 2024. The stadium is Scotland’s largest, and tickets for the upcoming Newcastle United versus Everton encounter are still available.
Team preparations and recent form
Newcastle United enters the fixture under the management of Matthias Jaissle, who began his tenure with a victory against Valencia. The match against Everton will be the first time Jaissle leads Newcastle against another Premier League team.
Everton, managed by David Moyes, has experienced mixed results during their pre-season. They have secured wins against Dundee F.C. and Hamburg but have also faced defeats against Stoke City and Stuttgart. This match in Edinburgh offers Everton an opportunity to refine their tactics before the domestic season begins.
In their recent competitive history, Newcastle United and Everton finished last season’s Premier League campaign separated by a single point. Previous encounters between the two clubs include a loss for Newcastle United against Everton on 28th February 2026, and a victory for Newcastle United over Everton on 29th November 2025. Another match on 25th May 2025 saw Newcastle United lose to Everton.
