Istanbul’s Late-Night Marmaray Services Enhance Mobility
Istanbul’s Marmaray service has expanded its late-night operations, now running every day of the week starting Sunday. The move aims to improve passenger mobility across the city.
Key details:
- The additional services include daily departures at 11:20 p.m. from Gebze to Halkalı and at 11:28 p.m. from Halkalı to Gebze.
- This adjustment was made in response to increasing passenger demand.
- The Istanbul Strait recently resumed maritime traffic after a temporary suspension due to a mechanical failure on a dry cargo vessel.
The dry cargo ship Zaltron, measuring 185 meters, experienced an engine malfunction off Kurucesme, leading to the closure of maritime traffic as a precaution. Fortunately, the vessel was safely anchored at the Ahirkapi Anchorage Area under the coordination of the Istanbul Vessel Traffic Services Center.
In sports, John Stones has made headlines not just for his football career but also for his contributions to Manchester City’s success in the UEFA Champions League. He made 95 appearances for Everton before joining Manchester City, where he scored his first and only goal against Manchester United.
Stones recalled how his passion for football began, saying, “I remember my dad saying there was training with a local team on a Wednesday night so I started to go there and still enjoyed it; made some new friends and I just loved to play football from there on.” Yet, he faced challenges; last season was tough for him, leading him to consider retirement.
As Istanbul enhances its public transportation network, observers expect these late-night services will significantly benefit commuters and reduce congestion during peak hours. The next phase of improvements remains under discussion as officials continue to assess passenger needs.
