Richard Osman

Richard Osman received an OBE for services to literature and broadcasting from Princess Anne during a recent investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle. Though he felt very nervous, Osman expressed pride in being British after receiving the honor.

Osman, known for his best-selling Thursday Murder Club novels and as co-host of the BBC quiz show Pointless, shared his thoughts on the experience. “I felt very nervous going in there,” he admitted, adding that it felt like “a responsibility more than an honour.”

The investiture ceremony took place on a day when 67 recipients were honored, including comedian Bill Bailey, who received an MBE for services to entertainment, and chef Marcus Wareing, also awarded an MBE for his contributions to the culinary arts.

Reflecting on his career, Osman first became a household name as the co-host of Pointless. He later transitioned into writing, capturing the hearts of readers with his engaging novels. His journey has been marked by various milestones, including stepping down from hosting House of Games in March 2026.

Osman met his wife, Ingrid Oliver, on the set of Richard Osman’s House of Games in 2022. Their connection blossomed amid the backdrop of Osman’s rising fame.

The recognition he received at Windsor Castle is a testament to his impact on British culture through both television and literature. Yet, despite the accolades, he remains humble about his achievements.

As Osman continues to write and entertain audiences, his influence is likely to grow. The public eagerly anticipates what stories he will weave next and how he will continue to contribute to the world of entertainment.
