One of these two teams, Australia or Paraguay, will advance as the second-placed side in the group. The losing team will need to hope they are among the best eight third-placed nations in the tournament.
A victory for either Australia or Paraguay would guarantee their qualification for the knockout stages, placing them on six points. The team that loses would finish with three points, and their fate would depend on other results by the end of the group stage.
Should the match end in a draw, both teams would finish with four points. In this scenario, goal difference would become the deciding factor. Australia‘s goal difference is 0, while Paraguay‘s is -2. If the game is drawn, these goal differences would remain unchanged, meaning Australia would qualify in second place ahead of Paraguay.
If Paraguay finishes third with four points, they would then await other results to see if they are one of the eight best third-placed teams. It is considered possible that four points could be sufficient for them to progress.

If multiple nations finish third with the same number of points, goal difference becomes the deciding factor. Teams finishing third with four points or more are likely to advance, while those on three points would require a favourable goal difference.
