Liverpool fans are set to experience their first look at the team under new head coach Andoni Iraola during their pre-season tour in the USA. The Reds are scheduled to play Sunderland on Saturday in Nashville, with kick-off at 5pm local time (11pm BST) at Geodis Park, home of Major League Soccer side Nashville SC. Both Liverpool and Sunderland players will wear black armbands and observe a minute’s applause before the match.
Following the match against Sunderland, Iraola’s side will face Wrexham in New York and Leeds in Chicago next week. These matches will provide an early indication of the team’s style under the new head coach.
Iraola’s Vision and Coaching Staff
Iraola has expressed his focus on building a strong, challenging team. He stated that the most crucial aspect is the team’s performance, as fans ultimately desire to see good play and positive results. Liverpool views the 21-year-old Jacquet as capable of immediate first-team football. Geovanni Leoni, 19, is in the USA but is recovering from an ACL tear. Other defensive options include Ifeanyi Ndukwe, 18, and Mor Talla Ndiaye, 18, who has now joined the squad after a visa delay.
The left-back position appears covered with Milos Kerkez and Kostas Tsimikas available. However, right-back is a concern, as Conor Bradley is expected to miss the initial months of the season due to a knee injury. In goal, Iraola is content with his options, including Giorgi Mamardashvili, as Alisson is not travelling to the USA. Freddie Woodman signed a new deal on Thursday.
