Manchester United show to be co-hosted by Wayne Rooney and Mark Goldbridge
Wayne Rooney, the former Manchester United captain, is set to co-host a new show dedicated to the club this season. He will be joined by influencer Mark Goldbridge for the programme, titled Stick to United with Wayne Rooney.
The new show is part of a broader distribution agreement with Disney+, which will feature 50 episodes of Stick to United. Additionally, 40 episodes of Stick to Football, another show from The Overlap network, will be available on the platform this season. The partnership aims to expand the reach of the content without altering its core identity, according to Gary Neville, co-host and co-chair of The Overlap.
New Show Details and Platform Expansion
Stick to United with Wayne Rooney will offer analysis of Manchester United’s latest results and performances. It aims to provide fans with expert insight, honest opinions, and in-depth discussions on significant topics surrounding the club. The show is scheduled to debut weekly from Tuesday, 18 August, on Disney+ in the UK and Ireland, as well as on existing streaming platforms and The Overlap’s The United Stand YouTube channel. Extended episode content will be exclusive to Disney+.
Rooney expressed his delight in co-hosting the new show, stating that it was a natural progression after working with other personalities on Stick to Football and The Overlap’s Fan Debate show. He highlighted the dedicated focus on Manchester United as a key aspect of the new programme. Goldbridge also shared his excitement about collaborating with Rooney, describing it as a historic milestone for fan-led media and a significant step forward for The United Stand community.
The Overlap, founded by former England defender Gary Neville in 2021, has grown into a prominent football and sports platform. It has expanded its coverage into other sports, including cricket and rugby. Neville acquired Goldbridge’s YouTube channels earlier this year for an undisclosed seven-figure sum, integrating The United Stand and That’s Football into The Overlap network.

Goldbridge, whose real name is Brent di Cesare, commands a substantial online following with more than 3.8 million subscribers across his two YouTube channels. His videos are known for their viral clips, often featuring his expressive reactions and sometimes controversial football opinions. Neville previously criticised another fan-led YouTube channel, ArsenalFanTV, in 2017, labelling it “embarrassing” after fans on the platform criticised then-manager Arsene Wenger following a 3-1 defeat by Chelsea. This led to a public exchange on social media, with Neville later appearing on the channel to clarify his stance.
The Overlap’s Partnership and Content Strategy
The exclusive one-year agreement with Disney+ positions the streaming service as the headline sponsor for both Stick to Football and the new Stick to United with Wayne Rooney, covering the upcoming 2026/2027 football season. Disney+ will also commission exclusive episodes and companion content for its platform. For Stick to Football, 40 new episodes will be available, with 20 of these being exclusive to Disney+ for a limited period. An additional 6 exclusive episodes of Stick to Football, featuring various special guests, have also been commissioned out of the UK for the streaming service.
Stick to Football is hosted by Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, Jill Scott, Ian Wright, and Roy Keane, and features a range of special guests discussing football topics. Sean Doyle, VP, Unscripted, Disney+ EMEA, noted that the partnership marks a new era for sports entertainment on Disney+, bringing popular sports shows to the platform. He highlighted that adding both shows broadens Disney+’s local original content offering and expands its presence in new sports formats, complementing its existing catalogue of entertainment.
The Overlap is part of Global Studios, a digital powerhouse for video-first podcasts from Global, a leading media and entertainment group. The platform has received multiple accolades, including Broadcast Sport’s YouTube Channel of the Year and the Sports Journalism Awards’ YouTube Show of the Year. Past guests on The Overlap have included notable figures such as Rory McIlroy, Gareth Bale, and Ricky Gervais. The Wayne Rooney Show is also scheduled to return to BBC platforms this season, and Rooney will continue his punditry role on Match of the Day.
