Turkey: Sebastian Berwick’s Victory in the Tour of Türkiye
“Ankara’s return as a finish location after 27 years added symbolic significance to the event,” said Cevdet Yılmaz, reflecting on the recent triumph of Sebastian Berwick in the 61st Presidential Cycling Tour of Türkiye.
Berwick clinched the overall title with a total time of 26 hours, 34 minutes, and 19 seconds. The race concluded with an exhilarating 105.2-kilometer stage that circled back to Ankara, marking a pivotal moment for both the city and the sport.
The significance of this event stretches beyond just cycling; it showcases Türkiye’s rich geography and cultural history to a global audience. “The race brought together athletes from 27 countries and showcased Türkiye’s geography, history, and natural beauty to a global audience of millions,” Yılmaz continued.
This year’s tour saw participants covering a staggering 1,133 kilometers across various terrains. The competition was fierce, with Ivan Ramiro Sosa and Kamiel Bonneu finishing closely behind Berwick.
